How Q.I.T.E. is governed

As a not-for-profit organisation, Q.I.T.E. is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who provide strategic oversight and hold the organisation accountable to its mission. Our Board members bring expertise in areas including employment services, business, law, community development, and finance. They serve without remuneration, motivated entirely by their commitment to North Queensland communities.

Peter Apel
Chairman

Peter Apel was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Q.I.T.E. in October 2016. Peter holds a degree in Commerce and Law and is the owner of Apels Solicitors and Notary, the longest established legal practice in Mareeba.He is a past president of the North Queensland Law Association and the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland. Peter has been on the Q.I.T.E. Board for 25 years and is committed to the ongoing success of Q.I.T.E.Peter is the State Secretary for Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland, and he is also currently serving on several professional committees with the Queensland Law Society.

Senior Executive Team

Jillian Trout
General Manager

Jillian has led Q.I.T.E. in the GM role since February 2015 and is responsible for the strategic & operational performance of Q.I.T.E. ensuring resources are utilised effectively to achieve the goals & objectives set by the Board, client requirements and in accordance with the Strategic plan. Prior to the GM appointment, Jillian successfully carried out the Q.I.T.E. Executive Officer role for over 5 years and has been with Q.I.T.E. for over 20 years.

Alita Jennings
Compliance / IT Manager

Alita is responsible for monitoring contractual performance, contract compliance, Information Technology security and compliance against the Department standards. Alita has been in the industry for over 20 years.

Heidi Brown
Quality Manager

Heidi is responsible for the ongoing development and creation of a culture of continuous improvement, driving system compliance throughout the organisation and its enterprises. Heidi commenced with Q.I.T.E. in 2023 and has over 15 years’ experience in quality management processes and systems.
